I was able to get a few pics of Lynn Cook's nose wheel fender last week.
Lynn said he does monitor the Reflector, so if you have any questions,
direct them to him.
One picture is of the change he had to make in the nose gear door so that the fender
would fit. Lynn has a standard Velo and the nose gear with the fender would not fit in the nose
without the door being modified.
I had to reduce the size of these pics so they could be posted, if you want ones that are
bigger, let me know and I will email you directly.

Well, in Lynn's case, that is not true. He put the fender on to stop the FOD. His MT prop was being
eaten alive before the fender was put on. He has an RG and the fender is very small and works well.
He change to an AeroComposite prop and the FOD damage has been drastically reduced.
I know Lynn monitors the reflector, but I've never seen him post. If he doesn't pipe up here, I will try
and get a picture of the fender at our next EAA meeting.

Just came back from golden west and Lynn Cook had his Elite RG on display there, He had made a fender that covered about 100 degrees of the nose wheel from top to the back, looked like that would stop a lot of the rocks. Maybe he has pictures.

I think the main purpose of the 'fender' on the nose wheel is not to prevent things getting into the prop; but rather to prevent slush, mud, water . . thrown up by the wheel into the nose of the plane through the gear door opening. The centrifugal force on anything stuck to the wheel is max at the top; so things get thrown upward, or sometimes even forward.

I taxi with my speed brake down as it provides a huge fender for the

Just don't skip the *Speed Brake Up item on the before take off check
list! Yes, I've taken off with the speed brake down. Its possible,
