Might want to change subject line to cover what you are discussing. Makes it easier to fallow along.

Phil Davis who overhauls Franklins and will be servicing my bad cylinder, says 50-60 psig is a good pressure. Mine is 40-50 depending on oil temp.
Phil confirmed the spec sheet I have that says the oil temp should be measured at the engine inlet for Franklin engines. My spec sheet gives an oil temp limit of 230 F so I guess I'm in good shape.
Phil said that any by-pass would be located outside the engine case near where the oil lines connect. I have to check, but I don't think I have one. I'm not sure I need one for warming the oil since the cooler doesn't do much when the plane is parked.
I'm still checking into over pressure protection. Seems like it is a necessity for any positive displacemtment pump.
I have a spec sheet for the Franklin. It's too big for the reflector, but I can send it direct if anyone wants it.

depending on ambiant temp and normal opperating temp the viscosity of the oil changes, also there is a chart for the proper viscosity oil according to the temp of your area. I am getting a little bit of blow by and a little bit of oil on my prop from my govenor. I am wondering if my oil pressure is too high. What should the oil pressure be on a franklin? thanx Jeff
