Scott,
Maybe this is just a Skytec issue, so if you don't have a PM type starter,
then what you are doing is fine. Just so you know, here is the link from
SkyTec that says to start on the mag alone. http://www.skytecair.com/EI.htm

I started on both EI/MAG for 400 hours on myIO360, and never had a kickback
that I noticed.
I've only started my IO520 20-30 times so far with the lightspeed/mag combo,
but I expect no problems.
