Hi Chuck...

I think it's 2 percent... Not 2 kts.... Per 1000 ft.

Hi, Tim,

Nice numbers but I was curiouos about the
difference between your IAS and TAS. If I understand it correctly, a
rule of thumb is the IAS speed drops by 2 kts for each 1000 foot. So,
at 175 IAS +21 kts (10,500 x 2 kts/1000 = 21 kts) = 196kts TAS. I
understand this is just a rough rule of thumb, but that leaves 19 kts (215 - 196
= 19)unaccounted for. Was it that much of a non-standard day, or is my
rule of thumb bad?

I have a XLRG with Cont.
IO-550 370HP because of high compression pistons and duel electronic
ignition. I just flew sunday and was crusing at 10,500ft at 215k true
  175 indicated on 12.5 gal/hr. running 100degrees LOP
  2400RPM. Tim Rhodenbaugh
