REFLECTOR: Fw: Fuel Filters

Tom,

I think you are referring to my post. Sounds like my setup is much like yours. The only reason I plan on removing the glass filters to the sump is that I am not comfortable with their design for the inside of my Velocity. It is possible for them to loosen a bit and leak fuel (although that has not happened yet), something I do not want.

I have a 10 Micron filter after the sump. Before first flight, I plan on removing the glass filters and replacing with? fresh hose. That will eliminate 4 extra connections in the system, as well as making me "feel better".

I would be interested on hearing if anyone has cleanable filters before the sump and how much "gunk" they get out of them once there has been several hours of run time.

Kurt

Another fuel filter question.?
There are 3 filters on my plane, one out of each wing tank (clear-see through type) and one metal filter between the header tank and elec fuel pump. I just changed them all on last annual. I notice one person posted that is was OK to remove the wing tank filters after several tanks of gas had gone through and the potential for internal tank crud diminished. Is this an acceptable practice?..thx Tom?
