REFLECTOR: All the little things

Actually, I tried that scott. Tape came off easy but a band of adhesive was left behind. Could be that I didn't get it hot enough, but I was very careful to not get things too hot. I have caused one problem in solution of another before, and I certainly didn't want that to be the case on the windows.

Now that the door window is clean, I have to make up my mind on the best way to finish off around the windows. The door panels also don't fit worth beans and will have to be reworked. The "bump" for the latch is nowhere near centered and the panel doesn't completely fit the area it needs to cover.

Kurt,

ext time if there is one, use a heaat gun to pull off that tape. Works
reat and 95% of the sticky goo comes off with the tape.

e careful to not heat up the window too much. I would keep a bare hand
ear the area I was heating to make sure it was not too hot.

 Scott,

Glad to hear you are progressing. To answer your question, I am going
 to paint before I fly.

Right now I am working on the interior. I have the baggage platform
built and upholstered, the vanity panel built (waiting to upholster
until the headliner is in for adjustments). I was going to stat on the
 headliner, then=2
0realized that I should do the door beams first so that
the material transitions underneath the headliner.

I pulled a door to start working on that for finish. That is when I
discovered that even the "easy remove" blue tape I had had on the
windows while priming sucks. The tape came off, but all the adhesive
stayed on the window! Could be a reaction with the solvents in the
primer, or just left it on too long. It took me 2 hours and some sore
fingernails to get all that off (using Mineral spirits/goo gone &
 plastic polish).

Hope to get the doors done next and then the beams. Then on to the
headliner. Seats are done except for painting the rails. I got the
Pinch welting for the doors from JC whitney. Only place I could find
 the right color.

The good news: The parts rack is getting more and more empty!

Turbo is rebuilt with new center housing and sitting on the bench. Oil
pump is rebuilt and reinstalled using the double thread method as
recommended by a local continental rebuilder. New induction tubes
are cut and fitted ready to go on.

I'm in Texas right now, wiring my uncles Glastar. He is very close to
finishing and requested help with the engine and panel wiring. I should
 have my engine b
ack on the firewall and tested end of next week.

You gonna paint before you fly?
