REFLECTOR: Another VG question

Tom;

I think the spacing has to do with the distance to the airfoil. On the
canard the space is much shorter, so you need the vortices closer together
to get reasonable coverage.

Are the VGs for the canard the same height as those used on the wing? Could
be shorter on the canard because of very little BL buildup.

Al

Subject: REFLECTOR: Another VG question

Recently got the instructions and templates from Velocity and am still
waiting on the StolSpeed VGs. In the interim I did something that may
cause me to lose my male chauvanist card--I actually read the
instructions. Anyhow, the plans call for 12 pairs of VGs on each wing
but 16 pairs on the canard which is obviously a much smaller surface.
I'm sure this has been tested and works but I'm just trying to better
understand the concept. If you want the canard to always stall first
shouldn't you be less aggressive with VGs on the canard?? Why not use
half the recommended number on the canard? thx for any input..Tom
