Jim - Thanks for this important information! This subject speaks to the saying, "What you don't know just might kill you!"
Soap box time ... folks, if you are not sure of what you are doing inside the engine compartment, find someone who is knowledgable to help.
Too many Velocity people have lost their aircraft - or their life - by blindly experimenting with the engineering and equipment that fits inside the engine compartment.
I immediately recall five Velocity aircraft that crashed due to failed oil coolers; blown oil fittings and hoses; improperly routed ignition wires; failed home-grown exhaust systems; and most recently, a supercharger installation that apparently caused a power failure.
Some in the Reflector community ARE qualified to work on such things. Others are not.
Hopefully - we all know our qualifications. What we each need to think more about is - what are our limitations?
Those of you who have learned this lesson the hard way - please join me in waving the flag. I think if others were to hear a word or two from the wise, it will help us all to think some more; do a better job of planning; and build safer airplanes.
Thanks for listening!
Scott B.

An Auto heater core is designed for pressures much lower than oil pressures probably in the 15-20 pound range.

Alex Balic, if you see this would you please call me at 469-426-4498? I fired up the engine today and my automotive heater core deformed from the oil pressure and started gushing oil. (I'm so glad that the interior isn't done yet.) I think I'm using a ball valve similar to yours; I'd just like to talk to you about it and see if I installed anything incorrectly.
Doug Holub
A milestone: the airplane moved under its own power today.
