Ahhh yes.. the "Power Scotty" button! I am using a regular key type ignition switch that hides underneath my center console arm rest.
I skipped the ejection seat too. Making an explosive canopy didn't sound so good, and I didn't have room for the spiked helmet :)
Need those giant switches?.. well... not yet :) I just liked them.
I added some extra strength along the tops of the doors and across thr front too. I think it helped, but I still have about 1/16" of a lip at the front edges of the doors after I hung my engine & wings. Not a biggie to fix, but it is there.
BTW, Congrats on your award. I look forward to seeing your machine in person.
Kurt

I was hoping to be able to remove the entire switch panel from the roof. My switches take up so much room, there isn't much room to make a cover/flange. Doesn't seem like there is enough material up near the windshield to "screw" anything to without risking an embarrassing oops.
I reinforced the inside of that “frame” with some plies of BID in an attempt to lessen the distortion around the doors, like when the engine was hung. I think you want to maintain some strength in that frame, which may be difficult if you want to remove a whole section. I also added frames across the tops of the doors. Do you need those giant switchesJ?
Al, You're right. I don't have a guess as to what the "red button" is for.
Why, it is the starter switch; of course. Since we don’t have mags we don’t need those expensive aircraft key switches. (I thought of using for the ejection seat, Tom, but changed my mind.)
