Terry...

If Chuck recommends it, it's probably a good deal...

Best... Steve

Terry,

Give
Air Charts, www.airchart.com, a
real close look. About 1/2 the cost of Jeppesen and very useable,
convenient format. The approach plate updates won't drive you crazy
either. Recommended.

  Jim,

  Thanks for the
link. That looks to be a lot less costly. I have to do Jepp due to
the Garmin 480 card, and decided I would stay w/ that format over the DOD
stuff. My “nav data” flash drive for the Garmin as a subscription for
the whole US and runs about $350 a yr. Then the flight planning program
and its online loaded maps and charts is another $1000.

  I need some time in
the airplane to sort out all these aspects of having my own airplane
now. This learning curve stuff never seems to
  end!!

Get Flightsoft, long time program with very
good support. real time weather, and a ton of other
  features.

I've used it for almost 20
  years.

Hi,
  Terry,

I use FliteStar as well (though it pained me to enrich Jeppesen
a single additional nickel). As I recall, I started with a Bonanza and
modified a few numbers that I thought fit a little better, but the B will be
close. I FliteStar for flight planning, especially the visual
representation of the winds on the flight profile (at the bottom of the map)
for picking altitudes but the weathermeister.com is still tops for briefing.

I recently
bought FliteStar which is a Jepp software tool that you can
flight plan
with. It has a drop down selection of 50 aircraft but not
  ours.

Does anybody use this program? ...and what is a good
  match for the use
with the Velocity XLRG with a 300 hp Lycoming in
  it?

Thanks,

Terry
