Doug,
Here are 3 web sites to look at. 2 stage DuPont autopaint has the UV in its
clear coat. I used a cheaper primer from Akzo Nobel that had no UV in any
of it. The base primer was a thicker primer/filler and then we put a primer
sealer on top of that which provides some nice sheen if you are going to
stay in primer for a while. That primer sealer was designed to be top coated
within 72 hours as I recall.

If you went single stage for final top coat it would obviously be in that
layer. I am not aware that anybody's primer that would have UV block in it,
but the chemistry from product line to product line and from company to
company can make your head spin.

I used 2 stage Dupont auto paint. Others have gone single stage. I
purchased locally, and I would encourage that because you will have
questions and need a place with good customer focus. That said mine has
chipped around the doors some. If you have the money to go with aviation
paint it might be better hold up better, but application is more tricky with
that stuff or so I am told...I'll take repairing my chips over fighting with
orange peel.

Good luck. It is very confusing, and remember ease of application is a
player if you have less than ideal conditions or experience.
Terry

I'm getting a little confused with the paint options. I've looked at
Awlgrip, PPG, and DuPont. Could somebody give me a part number for a UV
blocking primer and a top coat from the same manufacturer and where I can
buy them?

By the way, I figured out a solution to my leaking fuel tank problem. I'm
going to fill the strakes with lithium-ion batteries and put an electric
motor under the cowl.
