Dave,

I thought much the same thing about Velocity heaters. Although I am not yet
flying my chevy V-6 powered velocity, I am confident that my coolant re
circulation heater with a blower (also a boost cooler when hot) will work fine. It
re circulates cabin air just like an automotive heater.

Since I have been flying in some Very Cold air recently (My last 2 trips
were -21 and -31 respectively) I too have tested the limits of the heating
system in my old & ugly Cherokee 235. I sealed up all the cold air leaks I could,
and made sure the ancient technology of exhaust muff heat was tuned to as
good as it would get. Still there was room for more comfort.

I remember hearing folks talk on the reflector about heated blankets/throws,
and found a source that proved pretty comfy. The current draw is acceptable
and the warmth and comfort makes all the difference.
Here's where I got it:

_12 Volt Travel Electric Heated Blankets & Pads_
(http://sports-imports.stores.yahoo.net/12votrhebl.html)

See if it helps.
