Hi Mark,
    Hope I might be able to help you out a little bit. I found some snap-apart key rings at one of the hardware stores down here locally (this store is not a chain, but everybody refers me to it for hard-to-find stuff). They are made by Ilco-Unicam, about $2.50. I just went out to the barn (shop) to get the name again, and I thought, these really look too small or insubstantial, but I snapped them together, and I can't pull them apart. If you'd like, I'll send you one. I'm going to do the same thing with them that you plan.
