Grigore...enjoy your questions...they certainly open up Reflector
discussion!
Be they Long Ezys, Cozys or Velocitys, canards by nature are sluggish and
ungainly (read; very poor handling) at low air speeds. I subsequenty feel it
v. important to up to the efficient flying/handling range (where canards
excell) as quickly as possible....I'd like even more than the 200HP Lycoming
that I've got for my SE-RG, but, as they say; "beggars can't be choosers" -
life's a compromise.
I also think - for the sake of an extra 40 - 50HP, it would also be a pity
not to make best use of the Velocity's high speed envelope and suggest you
go for the higher power engine.
Kind regards from DownUnder,
Greg

Subject: REFLECTOR: propeller range?
Not sure about the distance for the fuel cap but it makes sense to me
that if it's a major concern that we should consider glassing a chain
attachment inside the upper part of the tank and attach that chain to
the inside of the fuel cap.
As far as the engine choice, A friend recently finished an SE R/G with a
180 hp and MT prop. He felt it to be quite underpowered-- just a thought
for consideration.
