REFLECTOR: Seat cushions

Don,

Sorry I can’t find the link. You can get the multi density foam from a mom
and pop franchise outfit that sells to Oregon Aero, or maybe OA will give
you their contact info.

I have their stuff in my airplane. They are vendors every year at Oshkosh,
if you have last year’s vendor contact info.

I did the seats myself. The foam is not cheap. I remember about $500 for
the foam alone. I am very happy with the seats.

Terry

Don,

Chestnut Ridge Foam does the foam for Boeing & Aérospatiale as well as the
military. I introduced it to Velocity about 8 years ago and my seats are
doing fine and everyone that sits on them mentions how comfortable they are.

Mine are three different density layers factory bonded.

Jim

I’m getting ready to get cushion material for my seats. When I did my Cessna
seats a few years back I used a local auto shop that does quite a bit of
aircraft work. I wasn’t terribly impressed so I figured that this time I
would try “real” aircraft foam.

I’ve checked with Chestnut Ridge Foam and Oregon Aero. CFR is running about
$130 per seat and Oregon Aero is $355 per seat. Has anyone been able to
compare the two? Just wondering if Oregon Aero is worth the extra $235 per
seat? I know they have a good reputation, but that’s a pretty significant
price difference!
