REFLECTOR: Sealing hydraulic cylinder fittings RG

I used Permatex #2 on the pipe threads during assembly 10+ years ago and have no leaks yet. I recently had the gear up for three days without the pump cycling. The hydraulic fluid I use has good lubricating properties, is non foaming and is compatible with all types of seals. It's called automatic transmission fluid. Good stuff and cheap.

Something else your might consider is Parker O-lube. You can get it thru Spruce. Use it to lubricate the rod. The nose gear cyl can bypass fluid as the rod rubs back and forth thru the rubber bushing. It's not an uncommon problem, and this helps alleviate it some, should you find it happening in your installation.

Hi All

I am putting the fittings on the gear cylinders and seem to remember some discussion ( that I cant find in my saved pile ) about the right way to seal the fittings on the hydraulic cylinders....... my normal practice would be to use Teflon tape. Is this the best??

Thanks
