The deal is:

If after the plane is complete, the?builder applies to the FAA, and meets their requirements?he can get a "Repairman's Certificate" for the specific plane. He can then do maintenance and sign it off. He can still do that for a new owner if he sells it, if he wants to. He can not sign off on another Velocity, nor can a non-builder sign off on an Experimental. The new owner can not sign off on a Velocity that he buys. Of course an A&P can do that.

Robert Wood
Owner/builder of a Velocity, SN 3FX017
Repairman Certificate Number?2686942 limited to a Velocity XL Fixed Gear SN 3FX017

Subject: REFLECTOR: Annual Inspection Question

Anyone know off hand if you sell your Velocity, can the buyer do .....and sign off....on the annual inspection??...even though he did'nt do any of the build?? I was thinking any pilot (current owner) could do the inspection due to its "experimental" status, but someone at a different airport was telling me if you didnt build it, you cant do it.? ........thoughts on that.....
