Personally, I like the forum format better, and it doesn't clutter up the
email

Please Please Please,
I did not mean to upset anyone here. It was just an idea which I thought
would help improve the community.
As for Ads, no chance in hell would they be allowed. It would defeat the
purpose of what we are trying to gain.
As for the location, I would not dream of going anywhere other then
tvbf.org.
Just as an example, look at this link:
Reflector <http://www.velocityxl.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5357>
Modernization
It is this same conversation but in forum format. Do note that Brett is
copying everything in the email, you would not have the old info in each
post, just what the person is saying now. Another thing, how many times have
you seen 4 or 5 people reply to the same email? So no you have the email
replies in 4 or 5 different places you need to follow vs one thread in a
forum. It would be a win for the community.
Just because it has not been done by the community before, does not mean it
is not a good idea. If we were to take the, "if it ain't broke" approach" we
would still be on horseback and there would not be cars or airplanes.

I'm not pushing changing the Reflector, nor needlessly upsetting the
applecart, though I do personally prefer the forum format, and would be
happy to facilitate the change if that's what folks decide they want.
Maybe folks could take a look at forums.velocityxl.com and see if they care
for that type of presentation. If we went that way, we could maintain email
for the members that prefer to get email. I'm running the free version of a
forum, and as such it's not particularly pretty or fully featured. If we
moved that way, I'd be willing to upgrade to one of the better commercial
packages at no cost to the group and host the forum. I agree with no ads
and virtually no moderation, etc., but I wouldn't want to make the change if
gives people heartburn. I want to bring the Velocity community together and
give them more tools and information, not cause discontent.

If the group decides to move the reflector, I strongly suggest that
"tvbf.org" go with it, and be maintained by the new administrator.
I registered the domain with the intent of reducing churn on all the
members, bookmarks, filters, etc. that people have established over the
years. I also insist that the forum remain free of advertisements and
stay true to the charter established by the members.
