Oh, did I mention that inspecting for cracks is also harder when they are wrapped?

I don't think it will rot the stainless steel pipes.

Cast iron and steel pipes will rust from the moisture
but SS should not.

inside) The wrap will work but has two drawbacks:
1) It will greatly curtail the life of your exhaust system
2) you need to play with it every so often as it will start falling 
apart in spots
