Yes, slippery in no small part due to that really snazzy custom cowling!

That's really great Al- hard to beat that efficiency- do you know how many
HP you are making at that fuel burn rate?

Alex

It would be nice to know, but no way of measuring the power out, so one can
only infer from the fuel burn; instead of the other way around. The best
BSFC I saw on the dyno runs was 0.49 #/hp-hr, but that was at a higher
manifold pressure and higher power at a bit lower rpm. The conditions
during flight were about 18" MAP and 2450 prop speed; total weight about
2050 lbs. Unlikely BSFC was less than 0.45, so power would be about 125 Hp,
plus or minus (Mogas is about 6.15#/Gal). Pretty slippery airplane?

Now that I have the fuel burn readout calibrated to within a few percent I
took notice of the cruise burn with my 20B. I was pleased (surprised) to
find 9.6 gph at about 175 KTAS at 8500 ft. 21 mpg at 200 mph in statute
miles; and unleaded regular. About as good as your average car at 65.

I have no idea how this compares to the typical IO360; but I think it is
quite good.
