Ouch! Ha!

Real pilots fly Velocities ... and I want a ride when Mark is done. :)

Hey MilSpec (Andy)...real pilots fly retracts ;-)

I thought that was great info...especially since I was playing with my sump
just last night, and was planning on putting in FRONT HARDPOINTS this
weekend!!

Thanks Mark!

Save yourself a headache when building your sump if you decide to use 1/2
inch fuel lines. The plans call for the hardpoints and fuel inlet fittings
to go on the front of the tank, which is where I put them. Surprise - they
don't allow clearance for the gear legs. I called the factory and was told
by Scott Swing that they need to go on the top or sides if using the larger
lines and they have not yet described that in the manual.

FYI FWIW

Mark

Hey guys...

I have the old style winglet (blue foam upper and lower) and am wondering if
any of you who did slow build wings glassed the whole thing (both halves
bonded) and then cut it apart via the template, or glassed the two halves
separately? Also, the "old" instructions call for rounding off all edges
before glassing, and the new manual does not. I can only assume that really
means all edges; The top and bottom surfaces, the corners etc.. no hard
angles anywhere right?

Oh yeah...I also have a set of brand new XL Matco's with master cyl's if
anyone needs them. I'm going Cleveland! And a new pitch trim motor...got two
somehow.

Thanks!

Albert

Albert,

I have a standard wing with blue foam core winglets. The upper and lower
cores were joined and the glassed as a unit. My rudders extend all the way
to the bottom so the cut line follows the rudder line on the lower winglet,
then horizontally to the leading edge. If your rudders are upper winglet
only your mileage may vary.

Albert,

I built my own wings, winglets, etc. I glassed the whole winglet as one
unit, then cut off the lower per the template. After that I made my own
adjustments to the lower, but the upper was per the plans. I have noticed
that some
of the plans now days differ from what I have in my book, so I'm not sure
we
have the same thing. I rounded everything (except the trailing edge) so
that
the glass would curve nicely around the foam. I do recall that if the
slurry
tacks up a tad (til it feels like peanut butter) that it makes it easier to

make the glass stick to the bends without bubbling.

Hi Albert,
... 2nd part...
Yea. what you want to do is round off the leading, top and bottom
edge and with a nice transition at the trailing edge (just like you
did the wings.. (you shape it just like you want it when it's done.)
Then do the glass procedure.

Hi Albert,
I built my winglet (blue foam) and you glass the whole winglet. 1st.
Then you cut the bottom part off later. I'd have to refer to the
manual for more acurate details.

Thanks,
Kevin Baker
