REFLECTOR: Main Gear Nut

Excuse me, but why is the nut not castellated with cotter pin, as it  should 
be.  A thin washer will line up a half or no hole scenario.   Even though I 
scrapped the original oilite bushing, bending tube/bolt  method(bent two sets), 
and built a full bearing installation, I still use  the old cotter pin.
