REFLECTOR: One or Two oil coolers?

I just fought this issue on a newly flying Velocity. I tried various
fixes (starting with the venatherm also) and wound up going to a 2nd
cooler which knocked the temps down 45 degrees. I stopped by the
Lycoming booth at Sun-N-Fun several times trying to get their best
engine guru and finally did. His opinion is that the forward oil cooler
with long #8 lines is not optimal and that for that kind of distance it
would need larger lines. As I didn't want to re-plumb (or cut new holes
in the plane for a 2nd cooler), I placed the 2nd cooler in the baffling
on top of the engine and tee'd off of the intake air--works great.
P.S.--tried the oil cooler heatsink--it's fairly worthless because it
doesn't fit completely flat on the filter--might work better if heatsink
paste used between filter and heatsink to close in the small gaps--at
best it's a nickel/dime solution though.
