John,

Over speed is not a good thing, although the red line on the Franklin used
in choppers
was 3100 RPM. (small piston/balance shaft. Dwayne once told me that when he
flew
the Franklin powered V. mid way down the runway, he would start pulling back
on the prop
so at lift off it would be at 2800.

Three years ago, I bought a new set of blades from IVO, (Now BLACK only) and
sent the
original white one's back for re-furbishing and balance. He fixed the nicks
and gouges with
BLACK gel cote, now it looks like a fire truck dog.

There was a kozy 1V in my hanger that landed hard and took one inch off each
of his blades.
He took another half inch off each blade to balance them and then went
flying. I don't recall
him saying his plane was now faster of take off slower.
