I lost about 3 kts on my std. rg. 200 hp. when I took my gear doors off...
That was at 170 kts...

Best... Steve

Scott,

I said 5 knots to be conservative ... but lately my plane has been going
faster. I have checked the static-pitot and it is the same as before
... but my speeds have increased overall. For some reason the plane and
engine are screaming better than ever. I think it has a lot to do with
fine tuning the rigging and flight surfaces.

But even with a five knot loss ... I am still truing at 200+ knots.

Tom,

You've flown with and with out main gear doors? Lost 5 knots with out
the main doors? I thought somebody posted a long time ago that the
speed penalty was less than that?

Man, I hate to lose 5 knots!!! :-)

Scott

I do not have gear doors (becasue I have found through testing that they
only accounted for 5 knots). My brake has been extended my gear at
around 140 mph. No problems. I have imbedded brake lines. Please
don;t take this as a recommendation for anyone else ... just sharing
information.

Duane once told me that the gear doors are the only thing that limit the
extension speed.
