REFLECTOR: Battery contactor hot potato

Yea, kind of figured that they would be warm,, but this seemed unusually
hot- but by the replies I have been getting, it seems like it is normal -
just hate to waste any appreciable amount of power since I have an all
electric airplane, with an ECU- do have 2 batteries and 2 alternators
though, so reliability should be enough.....

battery relays use quite a bit of electricity in a very small area, so they
will get quite warm.  The coil has to pull pretty hard to insure a good
contact or the contacts could heat up  and weld or melt which would be very
bad.
