REFLECTOR: Gas Struts for Elite Doors - Where to buy

Dennis,

I have the new arrangement similar to shown in the online manual.

I bought mine at McMaster Carr. www.mcmaster.com

I found some at the auto parts store that were the right size - but only had about 30 pounds of lift pressure. The doors would fall down if the wind was blowing or while taxiing.

I purchased new springs that were 50 pounds and they work GREAT. Doors stay up while taxing - and they have worked well after 4 years of use.

Ron

I have an Elite, Long Wing FG. Two questions:

  1) Anybody know where can I buy gas struts for doors? Auto Zone? Pep Boys? I recall a several posts many moons ago about the best struts.

  2) Do you know a brand name or part number? I know, I'm asking a lot. Whatever specifics you may have.

  Thanks in advance,

  Dennis Martin
