Alex,

Thanks for the input; I'll probably have a hard time finding the tools you
specified, since we're metric over here + don't have harbor freight. We do
have other stores of similar caliber though. I already got the air body saw,
grinder (straight type), etc. I'll figure something out.

Thx,
Ben

Hi Ben-
3 hp will work for you for the most part- but get the largest one that you
can afford. The tank size is almost as important as the motor though- you
can probably keep up using a 2 hp if you have a 30 gallon or larger tank.
The largest user of air will be the die grinders- you should get both a
straight type, and a 90 degree design and some 2 inch and some 3 inch
diameter sanding disks for the 90 degree grinder- grit 100, 60, 36 , also,
invest in an air body saw- ($20 at harbor freight tools.com) it uses small
metal cutting blades and will work wonders on the fiberglass- rapidly cuts
straight or curved lines with 1/16 inch curf. just need some practice- it
was the most used tool in my shop besides the 90 angle grinder.

Dear All,

I am new to the reflector. I bought Bob Hugel's Velocity Elite RG project
(fast built wings & fuselage) and shipped it to Germany where I currently
live. I just moved it into my shop 2 days ago and am now configuring the
shop, getting the tools etc. For that matter I was wondering how big of a
compressor I would need to drive a couple of air tools (one at a time;
circular cutter; grinder; dremel). I am currently looking at 2-3 HP
compressors...

So far I have been browsing through a couple of the builders' sites that are
out there to familiarize myself with the projects and the people that are
part of the commmunity... I haven't been on a mailing list like that before
and love the concept!

I'd appreciate the input

Kind regards,

Ben Harren
