REFLECTOR: [SPAM] Re: Pitch trim

The linear actuator that powers the pitch trim should react instantly to the application of power (forward or back).
The bolts and mounting connections between the pitch trim servo, pitch trim spring, and elevator should have no slack.
The elevators should have complete freedom of movement - no binding at the hinges, no binding at the canard wing tips, no binding against the fuselage sides, and no binding on the underside of the canard.
The bottom line ... during ground test ops, there should be little to no lag between when the pitch trim command switch is pressed - to when motion is observed in the pitch trim actuator.
Is the pitch trim system hooked up through a relay? Is everything okay there (i.e. it's not a relay with a time delay)?

3 seconds, maybe more. I will try to remember to time it on the morrow (or even tomorrow <g>). I hope to spend the day at the hangar. Thanks.

  All the best,

  Chris

    Chris,

Define "considerable". ½ second? 3 seconds? My elevator moves up or down the instant (less than a ½ second) I press the button.

I wired up the pitch trim tonight and noticed there is considerable lag between when I activate the swith/motor and the trim spring/elevator actually start moving. Is this normal? Is there a way to adjust this. What, praytell, am I missing this time. Thanks.

    All the best,

    Chris
