REFLECTOR: Brake authority

Al,

I've only flown with both the TE fences and the
aileron gap tape on, but others have reported a big
improvement in aileron authority at slow speeds from
just the gap tape.

Besides, being such a quick/cheap/easy mod it's at
least worth a shot.

You can just use some white electrical tape form the
local hardware store - it's about 5/8" wide. Use a
bungee cord to hold the stick off to one side and
apply the tape across the top of the aileron that is
deflected down. Don't stretch the tape. After
releasing the stick, push any tape that is bulging up
down into the gap - including at the hinges. Repeat
for other side. Clean the area with alcohol before
applying the tape. I replace my tape about every 6
months when it starts to crack - takes about 10
minutes.
