Lou;

Welcome to the Reflector.

. When I took off my LongEZ, I would accelerate to about 60 kts then hold a
little back pressure. The canard would lift up , I would hold it there and
shortly there after the main wing would fly. With my Velocity, I can hold
all the gentle back pressure I want and nothing happens until I give a good
pull and then she leaps into the air. Likewise on landing, I cant seem to
hold the nose off after the mains touch down. The nose wants to drop right
now.

There seems to be quite a bit of variation in the canard behavior. With my
SE RG the behavior is much like your EZ, but about 10 knots faster. I trim
about ¾ to 1” down elevator, and with gentle back pressure, the nose lifts
off fairly smoothly at around 70 KIAS.

If I’m very careful, I can do touch and go without the nose wheel ever
touching. It takes careful concentration to fly the nose wheel down
smoothly, and I have only once had the perfect landing of squeaking on the
mains, and flying the nose down gently; so I know it is possible. I’m still
new at this, so I’m hopeful that I can have that experience again.
