Lou,

When I went through transition training I was taught:
On takeoff, pull stick full back at 65KIAS and release some of the
back pressure when the nosewheel lifts off. Mains usually lift off
about 70 KIAS.

Nose does drop quickly on its own once the mains touch down.

Can't comment on the trim spring or comparison to the Long. Like you I
bought a flying Velocity and have been loving it.
