REFLECTOR: Oil cooler exit

I have two cooler, but I running 210-218 at 76 degrees. I want it to be
cooler so I'm exiting the exhaust out the bottom. Thinking that with it
exiting inside the cowl it might be making the bottom of cowl a higher
pressure reducing over all cooling.

Steve,

The IO-540's and IO-550's all need more than just the front cooler.
Barry & I have XL's.

Barry... Sorry I didn't add the following note with the picture...

Then, maybe you won't need the rear cooler at all...

Best... Steve

Barry,

I was just staring at that sub-project today. The traditional solution
is a "reverse NACA", in which the cut flap of cowl skin is bent in to
form a "ramp" for the exiting air. The ones I have seen didn't have
anything sticking out beyond the original cowl surface.

(My Catto prop is to be delivered this Saturday, and my panel is coming
from SteinAir next week, so I'll be out of excuses and have to finish
this
project!!)

Hello
I'm exiting my engine compartment oil cooler air thru the bottom cowl.
Do I need to make a scoop for the exiting air on the bottom cowl to flow
out or just a hole for it to exit thru?

Thank You
Barry
