Hey Guys, that video link is just one of those new "fixed wing" helicopters we've been hearing about! :-)

  David,

Jokes aside, of course it is an artifact. Cameras do strange things. The video in this link has a much simpler explanation than your prop photo, but it is a great example of how cameras come up with a mind of their own. If someone wanted to do this on purpose, it would not produce such outstanding results.

Yes.. thats an ivo. 3 blade. I was at the controls in the cockpit when those pics were taken.

I wholeheartedly believe that is photographic artifact, because there is no damage or wrinkling to the blades and they are typically pretty stiff. This probably is the result of an RPM change that occured at about the scan rate/ "shutter speed" of the image. I am guessing the pic is taken from top to bottom in a scrolling manner, which can account for the distortion of the blades, the prop rotating clockwise as the image is sampled.

  Hey Greg,

Judging by the photo Kevin points out here, a fixed pitch boomerang should do the work for you.. J

Man... is that a IVO prop.

  Does it flex that much?

  Looks like it hurts.
