REFLECTOR: Fuel venting issue

Well the check valve keeps the flow going just one way- into the tanks- and
also in the unfortunate case of a roll over, would keep fuel from draining
into the cabin as well- I am pretty sure that it is the factory recommended
setup now- the vent line goes up to the roof line inside before exiting the
bottom of the aircraft just in front of the sump drain for normal operation.
I just figure that I don't want to be a glider due to one determined mud
dauber ( which are really really plentiful here in Texas by the way) I have
seen them build a nest in less than 30 minutes, so even a $100 ( currently
$150 due to high fuel prices ) hamburger stop could possibly be trouble....
the pito holes are probably too small for them , but that vent line would be
just about right.. even the recessed screw holes on my power tools are
generally plugged up by the end of each summer- and I need to clean them
out with a screw driver- kind of nuts....

I have a hard time feeling good about having a fuel vent line open to the
interior of the cabin...

The check valve is located inside the plane and above the level of the fuel
in the tanks (right up at the roof- it T's into the vent system, so fi the
external vent fails, it will open and allow air into the tanks from the
cabin- but not let fuel/fumes out into the cabin.

If the check valve is on the same line that is theoretically blocked by
ice or mud, how is it able to prevent ANYTHING? An obstructed vent is an
obstructed vent.

The check valve is actually there to prevent tank collapse should the
vent line become blocked (by say a mud-dauber or ice accumulation).
I've seen a 15,000 gallon steel tank collapse by a plugged vent, and
it's not pretty...

Just recently I noticed a one way valve had been added to the single
line running out of the block to prevent flow out of the vent line and
thus only allow air to flow in. I don't have this one way valve and
wondered why I would need it? I guess this scenario answers my question.
