REFLECTOR: Gear-up landing

I have a Glasair with retracts and the gear electrical system is not the 
same on the Glasair and the Velocity...  On the Glasair, the UP side 
pressure is controlled by a pressure switch that turns the pump off at 1600 
lbs.... On the DOWN side, the pump is controlled by micro switches... The 
pump turns off when all three gear are down and locked... We don't have that 
problem of pressure bleeding from the high side to the low side and 
affecting the up and down switch activation...

Mack,

I was talking with a Glasair friend of mine and apparently this occurs
in those planes often.  The exhaust is next to the front gear cylinder
and once retracted the low side builds pressure from the nearby heat
source requiring  a reset and an occasionally a dump.

I have no experience with Glasairs personally except flying a III once.

I have had to use my reset switch about 5 times in the 500 hours of
operation,

Do you have any ideas why the low pressure down switch sometimes will
not close?

It seams to happen after a long flight on hot day.
