I have been using petroleum jelly (Vaseline)for years and it seems to do
the job just fine, the o-rings are in perfect condition and do not leak.

Subject: REFLECTOR: Fuel Cap Lube

Last year I used some fuel pump grease to lube the o-rings on my
airplane.
I was given some at an FBO in Wash. It was in a can but I can't seem to
find it for sale in any catalog. Does anyone know where I can get some
or has anyone found something else that I can use to lube the o-rings.
I have seen some stuff called EZ Turn for fuel system fittings.
