REFLECTOR: VOrtex generators

The styrene from
http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/pls/pls90508.htm
will UV degrade. So "temporary" is the operative word.

I thought that it was you asking about mounting wireless cameras on your

Scott,

I'm putting my magnetometer in the end of the strake. Several others have
reported no problems in that location. I'll try to keep as much space as
practical from the strobe/nav light wiring, but I don't anticipate any
problem.

I need to locate my remote compass. Supposed to be clear of big iron
and large currents.

I would really like to mount it on the canard, but am concerned with its
closeness to the stack and rudder peddle mechanism. Anybody have one
mounted there with no problems?

I also though of the small cavity at the outboard end of the strake
where the outboard wing attach bolts are, though the wires for the
strobes run right through there.

Scott

Sorry for such a late reply, I do have a couple old seats out of a standard
fixed gear. Lynn

Does anyone remember what people were using to make inexpensive,
temporary vortex generators? It seems like they could be cut from a
readily available product, but I can't remember what it was.

Thanks,

Dave Scharfenberg

Scott;

I put the magnetometer for the GRT EFIS out in the end of the strake. That
has worked very well. I also have a digital compass I the panel; and the
magnetometer for that is in the nose about 6 - 8" forward of the canard
bulkhead, on the bottom just to the left side of the nose gear door. That
also is working just fine; but I don't have an oil cooler up there so there
is nothing in the way.

You could use the tiny aluminum angle extrusions from Lowes/Home depot- and
attach with caulking/adhesive (do not use silicone caulk if your surfaces
are unpainted, it will be almost impossible to remove completely later from
the primer and prevent proper adhesion of your future top coat ) probably
some plastic angle out there, just not as readily available

In addition to aluminum angles, someone in the Reflector suggested these in
the past too.

For those interested, I have posted .pdf side profiles for both the Velocity
XL FG and RG
good for trying paint schemes and to reduce for inclusion in your POHs.
