REFLECTOR: Velocity 20B update

Let's just say that I was a bit too aggressive with my rotary tool when I was trying to adjust my elevator travel (I have the yoke system). I ended up nicking the carry-through spar. After some conversations with the factory, we decided that the prudent thing to do was to replace the whole assembly rather than wondering at 10,000ft, over mountain (we have plenty of those), caught in some turbulence...

I would say that the overall size difference was about 10% in each direction (span, chord, etc). It was so much that we actually called the factory a few times to make sure that we were O.K.

As a footnote... A properly installed yoke system should not have any need to dig into the canard. An expensive lesson learned.

Hiroo

On my XL, I have the Wingco canard and your Leading

I think your configuration of 'small' wings and

'longer' Wingco canard (162" not including tips) may

be fairly unique. Have you heard from anyone flying

this specific set-up?

Apparently there isn't an issue with the XL, and I don't know about the 173 LW. I wouldn't think the standard wing version with Wingco wings and canard should be unusual, but that's what I'm trying to find out about.

Hiroo - I'm curious why you replaced your Wingco canard. Is it smaller in ways other than the span, and a bit less camber?

Thanks,

Al
