REFLECTOR: Injector Idle Mixture

Good observation Bob

I apologize for the oversight. Since I knew what engine is on the
plane, I was sure that the collective would know too. The engine is an
IO 540 260 HP with 10:1 pistons, although I think the process is about
the same for the IO360, if there are 540 specific considerations, I
would appreciate that information too.

I thank everyone for the feedback. I think I may have the idle speed
too high to detect the effect of the adjuster changes. This is a
completely fresh engine and a bit stiff when we began this process. The
new engine combined with the over rich setting caused us to use a higher
idle to keep it running. It has loosened up, and we have leaned it, but
we had kept the idle higher just to be sure it wouldn't stall. So now I
have a several things to try. Of course, now the weather has not
cooperating, but as soon as it does, we will make some more changes.

Thanks Again Everyone,
- jerry

I wish I knew, Jerry. Is it a LYC 0540, I0540, or what? Not that even if
I knew, I'd be of any help, but I could grope around on google to try to
find a hint.

Bob

We are now doing some of the initial taxi testing and are having issues
that appear to be mixture related. I have tried to adjust the star
wheel to lean the mixture, but I don't seem to be able to get there.
Maybe I'm confused by the manual (how likely is that?) so which way do
you rotate that star adjuster (with the spring on the side) to lean the
mixture? We are only at 900' so that should not be a big problem. I
have rotated it until the wheel is almost to the bottom of the travel,
and we still seem to have an over rich condition.

Any hints?
