REFLECTOR: brake lines

I ran #3 Airquip SS-Teflon down the back side of my fixed gear with no problem. Just make sure to put heat shrink over the Airquip so the epoxy doesn't change the SS braid into a rod!!

I have a fixed gear and ran aluminum lines from the master cylinders which
change over to nylaflow between the firewall and gear bulkhead - then the
nylaflow goes down the gear legs. You are correct, any hose will be too
thick to go down the gear legs - must use nylaflow or aluminum.

Larry,

I was thinking of doing the same thing you did on my SEFG (Alum through the
fuselage then aeroquip down the legs). If you have a FG how did you run the
Aeroquip down the legs? The stuff I've seen seems too thick to be able to
glass it in at the back of the legs, also I was wondering how you'd replace
the aeroquip if it was ever necessary as the ends wouldn't go through the
tubes at the back of the legs.

Thanks

The manual is far from complete and it is probably a stretch to say
comprehensive. It is best used as a minimum/guidline/outline.

You should access the Reflector Archives as almost every topic has been
covered multiple times. (Not that we don't enjoy re-re-reinventing the
wheel. After all, it is "experimental")

As far as the Nylaflow, however you install it, expect to have to change it
in the future. The plastic degrades after 6 or 7 years and becomes brittle.

It has been suggested to fabricate a conduit along the outside of the duct
by taking plastic drinking straws and connecting them end to end the entire
length then covering with fine bid. then you just thread the nylaflow thru.
This way, if you need to change it, it is a snap. I myself used aluminum
tubing from the master cylinder and along the ducts, which I glassed over
and terminated at the gear bulkhead. from there, I used teflon/braided
stainless steel brake line (Auroquip) down the gear legs to the calipers.
