REFLECTOR: Accident/Incident

Here's the scoop on the incident.

I talked to Paul as he was driving 17 hours to Idaho, instead of
flying...double drat.

With his permission...Paul just got his rebuilt MT installed (XL-RG, IO
540). Craig Catto did the repairs.  He was also trying a new landing
technique, keeping the nose a little higher during flare, plus his second
landing of the day with the new, heavier-than-wood prop.  Apparently the
nose got too high.  Although the plane touched down great, he then went
airborne at about 60, coming down quite hard.  The main gear linkage gave
way and the gear collapsed.  The gear legs were fine, but it destroyed the
prop and scraped the cowling.  Obviously, something broke or popped.  

Back to Craig I guess.  Except for being discouraged, Paul is fine.  

Paul, sage Baker in Sebastian would like to talk to you about what happened.

audio of the sessions suitably transferred and posted to the web. I still
