REFLECTOR: Gear Alert

Looking for a foolproof device to prevent a gear up landing---I'll sell
you a checklist for $1. Just kidding. If it was foolproof, no one
would ever have a GU incident. The proximity system may do the trick,
but not too long ago, a fellow did a GU in a certified plane with a
warning system. He remarked later that he couldn't figure out what that
buzzer was he was hearing in the headset.....he was trying to figure
that out instead of doing one final check for 'three-green', or in the
case of most Velocities, 'two-green'. A voice alert saying 'hey, dummy,
get it down, get up or be embarrassed' may do the trick.

In case you hadn't figured out by now, I don't have a clue what the
answer is to your question.

Subject: REFLECTOR: Gear Alert

I have been thinking about getting one of these Gear Alert devices
http://www.flyingsafer.com/2037.htm for my XLRG. It is a ground
proximity sensor that will give you a voice alert in your headset if you
are below 150 ft AGL and your gear is not down and locked.

Has anyone flown with one of these?
