REFLECTOR: Transition training

Kind of interesting that you mention that- was flying a long EZ for some
time, then needed a checkout in a 172 for a trip from Orlando to Bahamas
during SNF this year- Orlando exec has a really long runway, so the first
landing I did was with no flaps (intentionally- I rarely use them anyway)
and the instructor though I had forgot- told him I haven't flown anything
with flaps in a couple of years- he didn't realize that canards don't have
them- he was astounded that they don't "stall" either......... second
landing full flaps- totally non-eventful-floated a bit- cant wait until my
aircraft is flying and can get back to landing "normally"

IMO, if you practice no flap, no flare landings in a Cessna, you will have a
good head
start for flying a Velocity. And your gear will thank you for that.
