For those having high CHT problem with Franklin engines,
I received this info from Duane.

Mike W.

Thanks for the posting. I am wondering if you have tried enlarging the exit
area by putting a "cowl flap" on the bottom cowling toward the rear. If an
opening of, lets say 4", extending down from the cowling not only resolved the
problem but actually caused the engine to run tooooo cool in cruise, then either
hinge this flap and actuate it with a push pull cable or experiment with a 3".
If this works OK try 2" etc. until your satisfied with the results. I know of
4 Franklin powered Velocities, not counting the one we flew, that apparently
did not have this problem. Perhaps they simply done the step climb and ignored
the problem, I don't know. In any case, be the hero and try the "cowl flap"
and report your results to me and to the reflector group.
