REFLECTOR: Sticking Valves

I haven't heard much on the Reflector lately about sticking valves - also
called "morning sickness" on Lycoming engines. But here is an interesting
article by Bill Marvel and Bill Scott. They have always contended that
Lycoming has had an old long standing deficiency in their valve train oiling
system. Basically, not enough oil gets pumped to the valve stems and
rockers on most Lycoming engines. This results in coking of the valve
stems, sticking valves and in severe cases, bent push rods requiring a tear
down.
