I second that idea.  My Sears lawnmower starter ( I know that's a stretch from an
airplane) occasionally spins without engaging.  A light rap, while cranking, works every
time.  So Brian, how do you propose getting the cowl back on once it starts?

How about jumping with a car battery while the car is running.  That may provide enough
extra juice to get it unstuck.
