The top end or cruise speed loss is not perceptible, if there is any. At cruise, there's just not a lot of airflow across the VGs, so the increased drag is minimal. The VGs are really very effective and are as close to a free-lunch as you can get.

your takeoff and landing speeds (and top end, too!) if you plan to regularly
land on a short field. I'm not flying yet, but I bought mine from CCI. I
think the factory sells them as well, but CCI's are UV light resistant out of
the box.
