REFLECTOR: Chicken little

I'm guessing they were relying on dead reckoning....and if they keep navigating that way, I reckon someone's going to end up dead.

But on the other hand, who would think about flying near DC without a GPS?????????

Could it be an CFI who thinks the only way to navigate is dead reckoning and VORs????? I still hear students getting lost on cross countries (with CFI's forbidding the availability of a back up GPS). Here's proof that even CFI's can get lost - we would be better off (and cost less to the tax payers) to give ALL pilots a back up GPS!!!

THE SKY IS FALLING! The sky is falling! Evacuate the congress; evacuate the Whitehouse; evacuate the Supreme court. Send the Blackhawk, Scramble the fighter jets; be ready to shoot it down.

Er.. no; it's a Cessna 150. It can barely carry 2-passengers and suitcase.

The officials say, "This demonstrates that we have made great strides in protecting ourselves from the dangerous skies. But we have a lot more work to do".

What is wrong with this picture? Makes me wonder if I want to ever fly my plane.

Al (Maybe I was in a bad mood BEFORE I read that news report)
