REFLECTOR: MT Prop

Thanks for the insight. We have had many similar discussions, debating the
shades of gray as well as the black and white. Dave really likes the
adjustable angle....I like simple (and cheaper). I think getting up fast is
not as good as going fast when up (please keep that statement in context
;-).

FYI, we have the "B" drive with the 2.17 ratio. Tracy assured/convinced us
that with the shorter prop on the Velocity, that the 2.17 was the one to
choose (or, maybe he is just trying to get rid of the B-drives <g>). He
said that the 2.85 only really helped with his really big prop (if memory
serves, otherwise we would have gotten the 2.85 C-drive.) Too late now, we
dry fit it to the engine last week.

Thanks again.

All the best,

Chris

The Ivo issues would be a non issue with your rotary installation. But
why an Ivo? The consensus seems to be that Catto gives marginally
better cruise than MT, and therefore substantially better than Ivo. Ivo
would be better on TO than Catto, but not as good as MT. A 13B
installation with a 2.85:1 Redrive should produce something on the order
of 220 - 230 hp. Gawd knows WHAT a 20B turning 7500 rpm might give
you. Unless you frequent some pretty marginal airports, that much power
should be sufficient for takeoff with a Catto and you don't have to give
away all that cruise (and money - $$$ counts). I would guess that a
Catto would give you a LOT better cruise than an Ivo, and the Ivo would
only be marginally better on takeoff.
